That’s only true if you believe one side. The Democrats have also repeatedly expanded surveillance just like the Republicans. There only seem to be a handful of congress people who are are concerned with privacy.

You should do your own research. NPR is like many other news outlets in the sense that they prioritize the clickbait style stuff. I don’t like how these media outlets are constantly acting like the world is ending. To be fair the industry has pushed them in that direction but that doesn’t make it right.
I don’t need or want DRM so I can’t comment on that.
What I can say is that the RPI5 is way overkill. I originally ran Kodi on a RPI4 but it was constantly running hot so I switched to a RPI3 and it is much better.
