The only one I typically go to these days is taco bell because I like the flavor and homemade any of it doesn’t taste the same no matter how hard I try. I do make tacos at home often, it still isn’t exactly the same (good but different). With the mobile app that I run in a sandbox the prices also aren’t the worst in the world and the rewards for free food stack fast.

But burger king is garbage, and I say that as a former BK customer. I think it has gone extremely downhill in the last 5-10 years and the prices have also gone up. It just doesn’t make sense anymore. I got a griddle at home and can relatively easily cook up some tasty frozen patties seasoned just how I like.

Same for KFC, Wendy’s, Arby’s, and Carl’s Jr. KFC flavor and quality seems to have gone downhill. Wendy’s is exceptionally expensive typically. Arby’s is not only expensive but I feel the quality has also gone down. Carl’s Jr seems to be roughly the same, but the prices have gone up and the one near me is typically slow so you can tell the patty you end up with has been drying under a heat lamp for hours.

Everything at McDonald’s tastes too processed and sugary to me, unsure why (and one would think I’d have a similar response to TB…)

Anyway…long story short I probably go when I go because of an attempt at nostalgia or fast convenience - but not to save money or for quality.

Making sure I’m reading this right…I know a guy who claims he isn’t sexist but that it is OK to pay women less because they aren’t as good at some things as men. So in his mind, it isn’t sexist to pay women less or even claim they should be paid less - even though it is.

Is that similar to what you’re saying?

As a software engineer I’m down to help out on this, free of charge.

Par for the course based on Uber’s history. I stopped using them in lieu of a local/community app…which is honestly absolute garbage, but it is essentially completely pass-through and free for my local area restaurants to use.

I actually tried to do this with a bar I owned back in the day. It was exciting / hopeful.

It went into effect January 1st, 2020. January for bars is rough because people do “dry January” so we hoped February and March would be good.

We all know what happened. It didn’t survive. Spent a good year or so continuing to pay wages and healthcare out of my own pocket, but I hit a point where I had to call it (mostly because I ran out of money and couldn’t get any more loans).

I plan to try again in the future, once I have the loans paid off and some padding saved again.

I also dream of a day where somewhat self-sustaining communes become more prevalent. Everyone living together on a shared plot and exchanging goods & services instead of money. Maybe it’s a pipe dream? I don’t know. I feel like it’ll become necessary over the next 4 years though.
