I have no idea what you’re talking about.

I’ll check that out, thanks! It does look nice. I have two PCs with Mint with Cinnamon, I’m pretty happy with. I have one more PC to switch over to Linux, I’ll probably try MATE on that.
Oh man, that must have been where I went wrong. I used a seagull, but I forgot that was for gnome.
Plasma kept crashing my system after waking it up from suspend. I tried fresh installs twice, with different revisions of graphics drivers. Plus, I had to install a bunch of crap from github just for my games to work properly. Lighting issues, texture issues. The mouse wouldn’t stay captured to one monitor in Fallout 4. Mint with Cinnamon just worked out of the box for me.
This clearly isn’t the country I thought it was, and I have been giving the average population too much credit. Apparently, this is a country of hatred, selfishness, and stupidity.
So, I guess I’m just going to follow suit. I’m done giving to charity, and being kind to strangers. I’m just going to get all I can get while the getting is good, and to hell with everybody else. I’m a straight white dude, I’ll be fine.
Oh, yeah. I don’t even have the network adapter drivers installed.
Old gnome is nostalgic to me, because my first venture into Linux was Fedora Core 4. I was still using Win98 at the time, and gnome 2.10 felt so modern in comparison, with rounded corners and soft gradients.
Coming back to Linux after having not touched it for a very, very long time I tried gnome again and I just do not like it at all. It’s weird looking. Maybe too modern for me, i don’t know.
I really liked XP. I still have a machine running it.
They sure are! And despite all that, I loved that place until they were bought by a venture capital firm (ironically named DBAG). That’s when it went downhill.
Yeah, of course. I’m fully aware of all of that. That was over a dozen years ago, and that company didn’t even have an HR department. At least not in the States.
I actually stayed friends with that guy for years. Even after we both left that place. I just saw him a few months ago at my new company’s tech open house, it’s a surprisingly small industry.
He probably would have been fired for that, but you really had to try to be fired from that place. Some examples I can think of are:
A coworker gave me some THC laced stuff at work without warning me. So I’m sitting at my desk, when all of a sudden I start panicking. I feel weird. Is my heart stopping? I can’t move my arms. I start yelling. Other coworkers come to my aid. I tell them I can’t move my arms, while waving them wildly. They tell me I need to go to the hospital. The coworkers who dosed me said he’d take me, and they had to wheel me out to his truck in my desk chair because I said my legs didn’t work either.
In the car, he told me I can’t say anything about what he gave me, or we’d both be in huge trouble. So, I freak out more. We get to the ER, and I just don’t say anything. He’s talking for me. In the room, they give me some Valium and I calm down. The nurse thinks we are a couple. He’s a 40 year old dude, I was a 23 year old dude. Too freaked out still to correct her.
Next day, go back to the office like nothing happened.
I watched through the first Avengers. It was pretty clear what the rest of it was going to be like.
You know, upon further reflection, I’m pretty sure my issues stemmed from Wayland. Plasma was a very nice DE, and I think I’d probably like it fine without Wayland.
