When oligarchs talk about “free speech” they mean their own ability to disseminate propaganda. They never mean the ability of others to criticise them.

True. If they had an ounce of common sense, though, they would set a minimum amount below which they don’t bother to send a message.
Now now. Let’s not get overly enthusiastic here, shall we?
What’s the interest on a tit loan?
The cool kids all use C++. If you use Python, you’re not a “real” programmer.
This is the answer. These people have no plan other than “make more money today”.
Only white people will be allowed to play.
Sounds Like dementia to me. You’ll have to come to terms with the fact that your father isn’t the person he was any more. Arguing is entirely futile.
Greetings, fellow geezer! And yes, I’ve been there too. My first foray on the web was with Lynx, a text based browser. Left me pretty underwhelmed. But once I actually tried Mosaic, I was instantly converted.
So in what way is that better than Lemmy?
Definitely a factor. But also technology. We’ve only been able to make convincing CGI of alien creatures for the past 20 years or so. Before that it was always a person in a suit or with some plastic stuff stuck on their faces.
On top of that, most movies and TV shows are made to appeal to as wide an audience as possible. That’s why the characters have to be relatable. Therefore every creature somehow has a humanoid face with humanoid facial expressions.
Where were you during the robot wars of 2025?
You’re talking about a recurring task that takes ten minutes every time. I’m talking about a one-off that would take ten minutes to do and never come up again. We are not the same.
Absolutely. Let me spend five hours to automate this ten minute task.
You could boot into a live system and see if the problem shows up there. If so, it’s very likely the hardware.
World you get into a plane that was controlled with one of those?
Using off the shelf consumer electronics in safety critical applications is never OK.
If you get a Synology or the like, it’ll work fine as a NAS but be limited as a home server. These things are pretty limited in terms of processing power and they’re ARM based, so that limits what you can run on them. So either you’d have to get a separate server in addition to the NAS or build a server that’ll also work as a NAS.
Came here too say that.
I hope the final piece isn’t much higher. If it’s below $200, l’ll get one.
