Read the book in 4th grade, due to the marketing I did not have any interests seeing the film but judging by your comment it seems they more or less kept in line with the source. It is not a happy story.

I think the movie explains Roy’s character enough, he’s a roboman, forced to fight a war and wants freedom to make his own way and is instead murderized for that want. Not much more needs to be developed there.

People who complain about content on lemmy should probably just look for different communities. Or maybe not be psychotic right-wingers looking for 8chan edgelord content.
