  • I really enjoy it, but I feel like I’m starting to slow down again

This is how it goes for me and I’ve been playing for quite awhile. Feels like I stagnate then an “aha! moment” happens and I’m rejuvenated. Eventually I started taking lessons to improve.

Don’t bother with sheet music IMO. Tabs are all you need. Learn the major open chords first, they’ll get you farther along quicker than anything else. Don’t fret (pun intended) if you are learning a song and it doesn’t sound 100% the same.

Learning guitar takes some dedication before you feel like you’re really getting it. Practice at least 30 minutes a day and it will come to you but it may be months before it sounds like music. As long as you’re having fun. I tell people it’s like learning to tie your shoe laces. All muscle memory. It was difficult at first but now your hands do it without you having to think about it or even look at it. Soon your hands with form those chord shapes the same way. Good luck!

  • Tough to call. Prices are high right now, who knows when they’ll come down. I look at it like this: my sister just bought a house for $120k and her mortgage payment is less than what she was paying for renting half a house. If the real estate market bottoms out tomorrow, her house value may drop and her mortgage payment stays the same. If she had stayed in the rental her rent would have stayed the same. After the lease expired the rent might have increased but the mortgage stays the same.

  • Not me but I was at a New Years Eve white elephant party where everyone brought something they were gifted but didn’t want. Someone who had a relative that owned a video rental store (yeah 90’s) brought a promotional press packet for a Steve Martin/Goldie Hawn movie. B&W glossy photos of the stars, photocopied excerpts of the script, bunch of crap stuffed into a cardboard folder. So basically they gifted their high end junk mail. As for me I got a flamingo costume

  • For some insects it’s part of their life cycle. They spend the majority of their life in a larval stage after being born in the water. Then one day they rise from the water as adults, fly around and mate , finally returning to the water surface to lay their eggs and expire. This is the basis for fly fishing. The angler has to present a fly that imitates the insect in the particular life stage that the fish are eating. Mayflies, midges, caddis and stoneflies are the most common insects. Nymphs, pupae, emergers, dun, spinners are the flies imitating the life stages.
