We’re angry about unbridled end-stage capitalism
Just like with everything in life, there’s a right amount of something and its not zero. Properly regulated free market is probably the best economic system we’ve come up with. I challenge you to come up with a better system.
Its the fact that we’ve voted in greedy leaders and have such lax rules about lobbying and open bribery that’s allowed so much shit to happen.
Minor addition:
In Europe, to make drinks like beer you had to boil the mash, which unknown to them sterilized the water, which made beer generally safe to drink.
In east asia, as you mentioned tea was a common drink. But before that there were numerous herbal remedies that had to be boiled and served hot as well. People who drank the herbal remedies got better (mainly because hydration and clean drinking water are important factors for well being). Other than attributing the recovery to just the herbs, they also attributed it to the temperature.
So lacking tea or herbal drinks, the ancient chinese believed drinking hot water was somehow beneficial to the body. Add that to the fact that many who drank cold untreated water fell sick, you can easily see how the myth developed.
Another side note. Hot water is expensive (fuel wise) so drinking hot water was a sign your family was comparatively well to do and something a lot of villagers emulated in an attempt to show that the family was well off.
‘* Spear volley *’
Announcer: Red starts off the match with a savage low blow. Will the ref do anything about it?
Put in there just as a cheap way to get emotional reactions from the audience, it’s the story telling equivalent of having the dog in the story die.
Just like Jesus, He didn’t even really die. He went away for a few days and on the third day he rose again so that all may follow him and enjoy everlasting life.
It’s a mainly with predators that we have an easier time toilet training them. Evolution has killed off those that shat in their own caves because of diseases and bringing food back to a contaminated den will in turn contaminate the food. Whereas horses and most other herbivores live out in the open, move around more and travel long distances to graze.
Baby panda sneeze
Jesus H Christ. These are oddly specific and terrifying are these actual reasons people at your company got fired for?
You expected to be the main character, but you’ve just realized you’re just one of many NPCs in a cyberpunk reality, just trying yo get by, but getting screwed at every turn by corporations, governments and fate.
Liver, Fava Beans and Chianti
These were some of the first sites to be enshittified. The more you scroll that more ad revenue they got. So they hid the actual recipes and steps under a back story longer than the dune books that forced you to scroll and hit ad after ad.
They only really say their skulls are legally obtained. i.e. it wasn’t stolen and no one was murdered for it.
We are committed to ethical sourcing. We follow all relevant laws and regulations to ensure that our specimens are obtained legally and responsibly.
Likely many of these are discarded donations to science, legally purchased from the organization doing the “discarding”. It absolutely does not follow that it was ethically sourced.
Unless you have traceability of each and every skull and a proof of informed consent (from the person whose skull it was, saying that they donate it for sale)for each skull there is no way to properly claim it was done ethically.
It’s not but it can’t be divorced form capitalism either.
A farmer does not produce grain out of the goodness of his heart. He’s doing it to provide for his family’s needs and wants, maybe new clothes for his kids or a new stove, etc. We work jobs to get paid so we can feed ourselves and our families and maybe buy something nice or shiny once in a while and save for retirement.
Production of commodities and services, profit-motive, capital accumulation, If that’s not the basis of capitalism, I’m not sure what is?
