That’s why I added it as an addendum. Even sourcing HDMI cables without HDCP is getting very very rare.

The HDMI standard needs to declare cable bankruptcy and start over with a new port design. We all have way too many HDMI cables supporting 23 years of standards. There is nothing in the specification to clearly label, across brands, what type of hdmi specification is supported by the cable or port.
Also, the DRM baked into the specification is such bullshit.
You best start believing in technofeudal distopias, you’re living in one.
Oh no, communism. 🙃
Lots of us don’t want bases “over there” or in fact anywhere. The casual nature in which Americans think having bases in other countries all around the globe is normal and fine is highly alarming.
The down votes are coming from inside the house country!
Ahh the sweet sweet embrace of the completely functional United States social safety net. For it is written in the stars, the benevolent magic hand of the market will provide.
I love when it is clear that writer just copied and pasted a press release from a company with very little rewriting.
Jason Schreier is the exception. For years and years, he has done Pulitzer deserving work covering the industry.
So did three.
Roll film:
Narrator Buzz Lightyear, “It was about the money. It was always about the money.”
Nailed it in far fewer words than me.
Extension cords are rated for certain levels of resistive load based on their length. It typically has to do with the gauge of the wire used in the chord itself. Electrical resistance is typically converted into heat energy. If you daisy chain extension cords and have them plugged into appliances, then the resistive load of the chained cords can be higher than the rating of one or more of the extension cords. This can cause fire.
It is hard for me to take seriously a hand-wringing industry that makes more money than most entertainment industries. Capitalism is the primary cause of articles like this. Investors simply demand moar each year, otherwise it is somehow a sign of stagnation or poor performance.
AAA studios could be different, but they choose to play the same game as every other sector. Small studios and independents suffer much more because of the downstream effects of the greedy AAAs establishing market norms.
We need unionization, folks. Broad unionization across sectors to fight against ownership/investor greed. It won’t solve everything but it will certainly stem the worst of it.
I didn’t screencap it but today on YT I was given a modal that said I was using an adblocker (ublock) and I have three more videos before they require premium. I changed VPN locations and stopped getting the message.
Lord Sauron would like a word.
It is an acute example of the whole world’s problem with American military bases on foreign soil. They want them to leave but can’t make them.
