  • My supervisor is a bit of a bully at times, but it’s not so direct and frequent that I have much of a case for HR, unfortunately. Especially because I often act irrationally with her specifically when my buttons are pushed. If I was a better employee in terms of interpersonal relationships, I could potentially build more of a “case” against her. As it stands, she has plenty of “evidence” to get me fired if I spoke up.

In that particular instance, there was a miscommunication about the lunch schedule. My friend did something to attempt to be helpful, but there was some confusion and it did not go over as intended. My supervisor accused my friend of having a “conspiracy theory” about the lunch schedule, then proceded to lecture her about how much “time was wasted” in the confusion.

My supervisor actually often makes valid points. She just acts like a condescending bitch when she does so.

  • Recently, my supervisor at work was berating my friend over something ridiculous. I was standing 2 feet away when it occurred. I was surprised at how it oddly put me back into my childhood, reminding me of when my dad would scream at my mom and I was powerless to stop it. I ended up blubbering some nonsense to try to distract my supervisor, but it didn’t really work. It’s frustrating to not be able to protect those you care about. I guess it’s in my nature to want to fiercely defend the people who I am loyal to, but I also don’t have a way to do it without getting myself or the person I am defending in trouble.

  • Well, when people wrong me in very significant ways, I actually don’t forgive and tolerate them. Especially when said people repeat the harmful behaviors to others over and over again, often without remorse. In that regard, I’m not necessarily being a ton different in the way I view myself. One of the problems is that I continue to do X even when I try not to.

Idk if any of that made sense.

  • 20 years though? That’s incredibly generous and unlikely imo.

People are refusing to tackle the infrastructure issue of people charging their cars who do not own single family detached homes. It’s a significant population of people for which owning an electric vehicle is a huge inconvenience. Public charging stations exist, but take significantly longer than the 2 minutes it takes to pump gas.

The second big thing is that people simply don’t replace their cars that often. Might be pulling this out of my ass, but I had read recently that the average person replaces their vehicle every 7-12 years…and it is often not with a brand new vehicle. Considering how electric cars still make a very small percentage of those on the road, I can’t see 100% removal of gas vehicles in 20 years in only a few generations of vehicle ownership change.

The Nissan Leaf came out around 15 years ago as the first big name, somewhat popularish electric vehicle. Yet in 2025 electric vehicles are nowhere close to even 50% of vehicles on the road.

In the more distant future? Sure. 20 years ain’t happening tho.

    But we’ll see!

  • Your last paragraph reads rather odd to me. Poly relationships exist but involve mutual consent. That’s the reason why cheating in many cases is not at all ok. Because the other party doesn’t consent to it and it’s done in secrecy and deep violation of the person’s trust. It’s ok to have multiple partners or have sex with other people. You can too if you want to! But everyone involved has to agree with that kind of a setup for a relationship. Hiding it and hurting the other person is almost always immoral and wrong, even if it “feels good” to you. There are ways that all parties can consent to make your “feeling good” not hurting or taking advantage of others.

If you don’t feel like you need to take notes, then I wouldn’t worry about it. Once you leave school, there’s not necessarily a need for it. For me they are generally just reminders, like you stated.

The majority of my notes are placed in Google Keep. I know that Lemmy hates Google, but it’s really convenient for me…since they are online I can access them from any device. And the app version sometimes comes pre-installed on my devices anyway.

If I only need to remember one simple, time sensitive item…then yes I often use a reminder app to notify me like you do too.

But here are some scenarios where I take notes in my notes app:

    1. Grocery lists. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to the store for only like 1 or 2 items and completely forgot to buy what I came in for lol

    2. Requests at work. Often, a task that is requested of me will be done over a landline phone. So I pull out my cell phone and take a quick note of the task to help me remember and make sure it is done correctly

    3. Semi-ordered lists of multiple tasks I intend to do. For example, suppose I am expecting family to come over one weekend. I’ll have various notes that help remind me what I need to do and when. Things like different types of cleaning tasks, getting snacks, etc.

In my home, I also have a handwritten notepad of passwords to my accounts written in a cryptic partially pictogram cypher lol. If someone manages to find and figure them out, have fun with those accounts lol.

At work, I also often write notes directly onto my workbench itself in pencil! My workbench is a contaminated space, so I don’t necessarily have my phone out. I use my phone to take notes while talking on the nom-conatimated landline. But at my workbench itself I write directly onto my workspace lmao. It probably looks a bit unprofessional, but I don’t think it stands out too much and is easy to erase when done! The first time someone showed me that you could easily do this, my mind was blown lol. At work, I write workbench notes all the time lmao.

  • There is always nuance in everything. Didn’t mean to imply that there wasn’t. Actually, my mom was a cheater. But she cheated on her abusive husband that she was afraid to leave. So I didn’t consider it to be immoral. In fact, I was amused when I found out.

In a majority of cheating cases, that’s not how it all plays out. So a majority of times cheating is incredibly immoral and hurtful to the other person. Occasionally it isn’t, but that isn’t the majority of cases.

  • There are so many heinous people do because of their primal sexual drives that everything just seems so bizarre to me. I have never had the ability to experience such desires that are supposed to be instincts that everyone does. So it’s really odd as an outsider to see what sex does to people.

    1. Causes them to cheat on others. Why? Why harm people instead of breaking up like you said.

    2. Causes them to r**e others. Why? Why can’t you just masturbate? Why do you have to harm others to get this?

    3. Causes them to murder others out of jealousy. Why?

As an alien, I only see the downsides to sex. It’s honestly saddening how common these are.
