Tech is a bit different because a significant portion of your compensation comes as stock when you get higher up the ladder but yeah.
You’ve got a financial incentive to have someone watch 30 seconds of video - so ofc you use all the skeeziest shit straight out of the chum bucket days of the early internet.
It’s not about attention span: it’s about manipulation and money.
Not only that but this meme is not about TikTok - they don’t have votes, especially not a downvote. This is almost certainly about Reddit: the only major social media site that has downvoting.
I pay $100 for my eye exam and $150 for my glasses every couple years.
It would take 30+ years for that cost to reach the Lasik levels you paid, and that’s assuming I’m not doing anything with the $3750 remaining after the first appointment.
Resources are just way cheaper than developers.
It’s a lot cheaper to have double the ram than it is to pay for someone to optimize your code.
And if you’re working with code that requires that serious of resource optimization you’ll invariably end up with low level code libraries that are hard to maintain.
