Those are some wild lines of reasoning, on both sides.

True to some extent, and I do this, but some aspects are unavoidable. For example the GTK save/open dialogue is used by Firefox, and it sucks (why can’t I type the fucking path in?). There aren’t good and popular alternative browsers that use Qt or any other toolkit with a decent dialogue.
Do they though? Are they ignoring the risk of a bubble collapse?
Thank you!
Yeah, maybe you’re right. I don’t known where the threshold is.
I wonder if the current computational feasibility will cap out improvment of current generation LLMs soon?
emergent behavior doesn’t really exist in certain model archetypes
Hey, would you have a reference for this? I’d love to read it. Does it apply to deep neural nets? And/or recurrent NNs?
This is a fun read

Doesn’t that just say that AI will never be cheap? You can still brute force it, which is more or less how back propagation works.
I don’t think “intelligence” needs to have a perfect “solution”, it just needs to do things well enough to be useful. Which is how human intelligence developed, evolutionarily - it’s absolutely not optimal.
It kinda hits harder coming from someone more shady, TBH. Like, “we know we’ve done some shit, but you guys are actually fucked”
You realise there’s a lot more on one side, right? Like, a LOT more?
Just a hunch with no evidence, but I suspect that this might be a bit circular, and that by giving up and being kinder and more patient, you might get better at understanding people.
Very good resolution (even if I’m wrong)!
More poetic?
All of it?
(Seriously, that’s actually a good resolution if you have anxiety)
Someone I knew told me that instead of making resolutions, they used the new year to review the last year, and then maybe adjust their ongoing goals in response. Seems way more useful to me. I’ve done it a bit, and it gives more of a sense of direction/velocity, and less opportunity for guilty failure.
It’s easier to clean than carpet
Edit: I can only assume that one down vote is from the Big Carpet Cleaning lobby
That’s not really true though… They come up with brand new sentences all the time.
