A track ball is interesting. Not sure it’s worth the increased thickness compared to Steam Deck style touch pads, but it’s still interesting.

I’m always suspicious about vague terms like that. I usually suspect that if they’re afraid to give the numbers then they’re ashamed that they’re not good enough!

ACE on a WiiU is just as easy, at least with the Wii you had to use a game!

You’re right, I must have been thinking of something else. Happily I can’t find any chatter about actual malware in QR codes (it’s all redirecting to malicious websites), though obviously there’s always the possibility of a new exploit being discovered.

So there probably will be an xbox handheld, but don’t hold your breath. In the meantime they actually are a little worried about how much SteamOS is showing Windows up.

Running x64 Windows games on x64 Linux with Proton is way easier than running x64 binaries on arm. That said, Apple have managed it so maybe one day!

This was a few years ago (so I hope there have been patches since then) but I watched a video which was trying to make an entire game within a QR code: they don’t have to just be links, they can be binaries that some devices will immediately run without question!

I never finished it; I kept running out of ammo against the final boss and just gave up. That was many, many years ago though, so I probably just missed its weak point and didn’t think to look up how to beat it.

It’s crazy how many full games you can play for free nowadays, I claim them way faster than I can play them!

If your friend is new to PC gaming then they might not be aware of how much they can get for free. I just wrote a post (stickied in !freegames@feddit.uk) summarising all the places you can regularly get freebies, could be a good way for them to try out a lot of different things.
